The Curriers Company is a small Livery Company with strictly limited resources. However, a main pillar of its current strategy is its programme of charitable giving. This is consistent with one of the original objects of the guilds in the Middle Ages, and the Company has established 2 charitable trusts to fund this.
The Charity Committee meets every September to agree the Curriers' programme of donations for the following 12 months. The guidelines laid down by the Court limit its donations to the following categories:
of non-national, London-orientated charities which benefit the young, the aged, the disabled and the socially disadvantaged.
Each newly-elected Master nominates a charity of his personal choice as the object of his Master’s Charitable Appeal, which runs from his election in mid-October for one year. The Curriers’ Charitable Fund makes an initial donation to this and members of the Company are invited to donate and undertake fund-raising activities in aid of this appeal.
Organisations wishing to apply to the Company for charitable support should ensure that they meet these criteria before contacting, in the first instance, the Clerk to the Company. Requests from private individuals will not be considered.
Finally, the Curriers' Millennium Healthcare Bursary was established in the year 2000 and is awarded annually. For further details follow the link.
